What Is Kundalini Activation?

What it is, what happens in a session, what people feel afterward, and straight answers to the two questions everyone asks first: is it safe, and is it real.

The short answer

Kundalini Activation is a passive energy practice. You lie down, eyes closed, music playing. A trained facilitator works with the life-force energy in the room and at specific points on your body. Your own energy responds, and the body moves, releases or rests on its own. Nothing is forced and nothing is performed.

It is the opposite of most things you have tried. Yoga, breathwork and meditation are things you do. Kundalini Activation is something you receive, which is exactly why it reaches people who have done everything and still feel something calling.

Where it comes from

Kundalini is the Sanskrit name for the dormant life-force energy the yogic traditions place at the base of the spine. For thousands of years the only way to wake it was years of practice, or transmission from a teacher, called shaktipat. Transmission-based activation, offered in group sessions to ordinary people, spread through the 2010s and went mainstream in the last few years. Vice called it the wellness trend "not for everyone," which is fair. It is intense, and it is also the most direct doorway many people have found.

What a session is like

Ninety minutes. You arrive, settle onto a mat with a blanket, and hear a few words about what might happen and that any experience is welcome. The music starts. Anya moves through the room, working in the energy field around you and sometimes touching points on the body, the feet, the heart, the crown. What follows is yours: waves of heat, spontaneous movement, tears, laughter, or a stillness so complete you forget you have a body. There is quiet time to return, water, and guidance for the days after.

Is it safe?

For most people, yes. It is gentle, you are in control, and you can open your eyes or stop at any point. The dramatic stories you will find on Reddit about "kundalini syndrome" almost always involve forceful self-practice over years, psychedelics, or an existing condition. A facilitated activation is a different thing. Anya spent nineteen years as an occupational therapist and twelve in energy medicine before this work; she will tell you plainly if it is not the right time for you, and she asks that you tell her if you are pregnant, have a seizure or psychosis history, or are in acute crisis.

Is it real?

The honest answer is that the experience is real and the explanation is contested. Facilitators speak of energy and transmission. Some researchers point to the nervous system: a safe room, rhythmic music, intentional touch and permission to let go can take a body from bracing into release very quickly. Anya does not need you to pick a side. Notice what happens in the room, and notice what changes in the weeks after. That is the only evidence that matters for your own life.

Who it is for

People in transition. People who have done the therapy and the yoga and still feel something underneath. Women reclaiming their bodies and intuition; men ready for more softness. You do not need to be spiritual, flexible, or experienced. Curiosity is enough.

Questions

People also ask

Is Kundalini Activation real, or is it placebo?
Both skeptics and devotees agree on what is observable: people lie down, and many of them move, shake, cry, laugh or go very still without deciding to. What causes it is debated. Anya does not ask you to believe anything; she asks you to notice what you experience and to judge it by what changes in your life afterward.
What are the symptoms or signs of Kundalini Activation?
During a session: heat, tingling, pressure at the crown or base of the spine, waves of energy, spontaneous movement, emotional release, or deep stillness. In the days after: better sleep, clearer thinking, a lighter body, sometimes fatigue or vivid dreams as things integrate. None are required and none are a problem.
Is it dangerous? What about kundalini psychosis?
The stories online about dangerous kundalini almost always involve years of forceful self-practice, drugs, or a history of psychosis. A facilitated activation is passive and gentle, and you can stop at any time. If you have a history of psychosis, bipolar disorder, seizures or are in acute crisis, speak with Anya and your clinician before booking.
What happens after a Kundalini Activation?
The energy keeps working. Drink water, rest, walk, write. Some people feel elated for days, some feel tender. Most settle within a week. Many book a second session within a month because that is when the work goes deeper.
How many sessions do I need?
One is a complete experience. Three over three months is where most people notice their life, not just the session, has shifted. Anya's private container is three sessions for $555 for that reason.
Kundalini Activation vs KAP: are they the same?
KAP (Kundalini Activation Process) is one trademarked lineage of this work, founded by Venant Wong. Kundalini Activation is the broader practice; many facilitators, including Anya, trained in transmission work and bring their own lineage and intuition to it.
