Sound as a doorway

A sound bath asks nothing of you. You lie down, the bowls begin, and the body does what it has been waiting to do: let go.

In Anya's Carlsbad temple, sound is never alone. Each lunar ceremony opens with intention and blue lotus, moves into sound and Kundalini Activation, and closes in stillness. The vibration of the bowls and voice settles the nervous system; the activation invites the energy underneath to move. Many people who come for the sound bath discover the activation is what they came for.

The circle is small, usually twelve or fewer, on mats with blankets in a candlelit room. It is a home, not a studio, and it feels like one.

Before your first sound bath

What is a sound bath?
A sound bath is a lying-down meditation in which you are immersed in sound: crystal and Tibetan bowls, chimes, voice, and in Anya's ceremonies, Light Language. There is nothing to do. The vibration moves through the body and the nervous system settles on its own.
Is the sound bath its own event, or part of the ceremonies?
Right now, sound is woven into every lunar ceremony in Carlsbad and into private sessions. Standalone sound baths and private group sound baths are available on request; message Anya with your date.
What should I bring to a sound bath in Carlsbad?
Comfortable clothes and water. Mats, blankets and bolsters are provided in the temple. Arrive ten minutes early so you can settle.
How is this different from a sound bath at a yoga studio?
The circle is small, in a home temple rather than a studio, and sound is paired with Kundalini Activation and ritual. People tend to leave quieter and more open than after sound alone.
Do you do sound baths in Encinitas, Oceanside or elsewhere in San Diego?
